Booking Funnel
The booking funnel is the front door of the GHL Car Rental Snapshot. It takes a renter from “I need a car this weekend” to a confirmed reservation with a deposit on file — in one uninterrupted flow, at any hour, without anyone at the desk. Every other workflow in the snapshot keys off the clean reservation this funnel produces.
The three steps a renter actually moves through
The funnel is deliberately short. Long forms kill bookings; the goal is a confirmed reservation, not a complete renter biography.
- Dates. The renter picks pickup and return dates and the pickup location. The funnel checks live availability behind the scenes, so the renter is never offered a vehicle that is already out.
- Vehicle class. Available classes appear with the details that matter — seats, cargo, transmission, the rate for the dates chosen. The renter selects the class that fits the trip.
- Deposit. The renter enters their card, the funnel places a card-on-file deposit hold for that class’s amount, and the reservation confirms. The hold amount is shown before they commit, so there are no surprises at pickup.
What the renter sees
After confirming, the renter gets an immediate confirmation showing the vehicle class, dates, pickup location, deposit amount held, and a one-line “bring your driver’s license.” It reads like a finished transaction because it is one — the deposit is held, the slot is theirs, and the car is off the availability board.
Recovering the bookings that stall
Not every renter finishes in one sitting. Someone gets to the deposit step and a kid needs dinner, a call comes in, the moment passes. Without recovery, that booking is gone to whichever lot they try next. The funnel tags any started-but-unfinished booking and triggers an abandoned-booking workflow: within minutes the renter gets a text with a one-tap link back to exactly where they stopped — same dates, same vehicle, just the deposit left to place.
Routing by class
Not every class books the same way. Economy and SUV bookings confirm straight through. Luxury and exotic classes route into a verification step — ID upload and a higher deposit authorization — before confirming, so a premium car is never handed to an unverified renter. The funnel applies the right path automatically based on the class the renter picked.
Why one flow matters
Every break in a booking process is a place renters leak out — a phone number they have to call, a form emailed for later, a deposit handled separately at the counter. The funnel collapses dates, vehicle, and deposit into one continuous flow so the renter goes from interested to confirmed before anything can interrupt them. That single design choice is the difference between a website that shows your cars and one that books them.
The booking funnel ships in every configuration of the snapshot and connects to HQ Rental Software, RENTALL (Navotar), or your reservation system, with deposits posted to QuickBooks. See it book a car end to end.
